Pilot Projects

GMN Phase II pilot projects will explore, refine, test, and promote technological solutions with the aim of quantifiable GHG reductions frommaritime operations. Technologies have been chosen to ensure alignment with the unique needs, capacities, and environmental contexts of each project location. The pilot projects reflect a strong potential for scalability and replicability across different regions and operational contexts.

Four pilot projects to reduce GHG emissions in ports in Africa and the Caribbean are ready for implementation, following their selection under the IMO CARES Global Technology Challenge. Additional pilots are also planned for the Pacific.
