DigiPort – Port Call Data Sharing for improved efficiency and reduced emission
Beneficiary Port and Country: Port of Walvis Bay and Port of Lüderitz, Namibia
Primary beneficiary organisation: Namibian Ports Authority (NAMPORT)
The pilot project will implement a solution based on a port call data sharing platform in a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) concept. The project will customise the data sharing platform to allow all actors in the port and the port state authorities to gain direct access to port call data, which is the prerequisite for implementing “Just-In-Time” operations and automated reporting. The system will enable the port to reduce Total Turnaround Time, improve port facility utilization, and reduce associated GHG emissions.
On successful completion, the pilot project aims to achieve a 7.7% reduction in GHG emissions from container ship operations, a 10% reduction from ships other than container ships, and 5% by optimizing tugboat services.
