MTCC Africa’s National Workshop, co-organised with the IMO GreenVoyage2050 Project, titled “From Awareness to Action: National Stakeholder Workshop on Advancing the Green Maritime Transition in Senegal”

Type of Activity: National Workshop

When: 1-2 April 2026

In collaboration with the IMO GreenVoyage2050 Programme, MTCC Africa participated in the “From Awareness to Action: National Stakeholder Workshop on Advancing the Green Maritime Transition in Senegal,” together with national stakeholders led by Agence Nationale des Affaires Maritimes (ANAM Sénégal).

The workshop gathered national stakeholders from government, ports, industry and academia to:

  • Strengthen understanding of global and national maritime decarbonisation frameworks
  • Identify policy actions across shipping, ports, and energy
  • Promote technology uptake and pilot project development
  • Facilitate financing opportunities and public-private partnerships
  • Support capacity building and gender inclusion (SDG 5) in the maritime sector

Through dynamic discussions and group work, participants jointly identified concrete steps and actionable pathways for cutting greenhouse gas emissions and driving Senegal’s transition toward a greener maritime sector.

This joint effort under the Global MTCC Network (GMN Phase II) and the GreenVoyage2050 Programme underlines a shared commitment to advancing innovative, scalable approaches that achieve measurable GHG emission reductions in the maritime sector.
