Enhancing Vessel Monitoring, Fuel Reporting and Operational Efficiency in the Solomon Islands

Beneficiary country: Solomon Islands

The pilot project aims to strengthen vessel monitoring, improve fuel consumption reporting and enhance overall operational efficiency through the installation of Automatic Identification System (AIS) equipment and fuel flow meters across selected vessels.

The initiative aims to replace existing manual monitoring and reporting processes with more accurate, reliable and data-driven systems.

Fuel flow meters will provide precise, real-time measurements of fuel consumption, enabling better monitoring and verification of savings achieved through speed optimisation and improved voyage planning. Meanwhile, AIS technology will enable continuous tracking of vessel movements, supporting route optimisation, reducing waiting times and improving coordination of port arrivals.

By integrating accurate fuel consumption data with real-time vessel tracking, the project seeks to strengthen operational oversight, support informed decision-making and deliver measurable improvements in fuel efficiency, operational performance and cost savings.
